For people in range of Whitinsville, MA, you’ll have some food trucks and food vendors at the Wooed by the Food Festival on Saturday. You can see the lineup and festivities for this family fun benefit on their Facebook page. The weather is supposed to be great on Saturday. And of course, it’s another SoWa Sunday week too. The following week in Providence, Food Truck Fest is doing a Boston versus Providence food truck festival at India Point Park. I’ll post more details next week, but a reminder that you must buy an entry ticket in advance for their festivals now. Here again is the link to that information.
I have the June updates for the food truck schedule and will be posting that over the weekend. There is one new truck listed, Gogi on the Block, which is out of the Stock Pot of Malden Commissary. No Twitter account, but they have a Facebook page indicating that they’ll be bringing Korean cuisine to the street. That said, I don’t see they have a health inspection done from the city of Boston, so how they were able to participate in the mini-lottery just stuns me. Just another case of the Office of Food Initiatives not really having good processes in place. That rant will wait for another day.
There is one new food truck site that the city is opening up, at Boston Police Headquarters in Schroeder Plaza. If you aren’t familiar, that is off Tremont St, down by the Reggie Lewis Center. I won’t prejudge, but my instinct is this is not a place with foot traffic. That said, it is also underserved with food options in that area. Roving Lunchbox, will be finally make a Boston debut there and on Mondays, the Hurley Building (another new and not very successful site) on Wednesdays. Roving Lunchbox has been in the lottery in January, but has not made it out until now to Boston.
